Configuring Service Trace Logs

Postby Elric Pedder » Tue Apr 23rd, 2013 3:33pm

Trace Logging is a feature where all data sent to and from a service is captured in a file (one file per connection).

To enable trace logging for a specific service follow these steps:
  1. Open "database\configuration\system.cfg" in a text editor
  2. Search for "Location=nnn" (where "nnn" is the port of the service, for example 25 for SMTP).
  3. In that section you should see a line that reads "Trace=0". Change that to "Trace=1".
  4. Save the "system.cfg" file
Now Mailtraq will start producing files in "database\tracelogs"

You can search multiple trace logs for specific text using grep with a command like this (at the command prompt):
Code: Select all
grep keyword *
