AVG 2013 problems

Postby nickwynne » Fri Oct 19th, 2012 8:37pm

Hi.

I've been running AVG Internet Security 2012 since it came out, without any problems.
As the licence runs out in 2 days time, I've updated it to AVG Internet Security 2013.

Hmm, Mailtraq don't like it :( (I've tried both 32bit & 64bit versions of AVG 2013)

On Mailtraq's Anti-Virus Manager, AVG 8 is shown as "ticked", installed shows "yes", statue shows "Failed to load API entry point ( 7F)".

Clicking properties shows "(error catastrophic failure)", & needless to say, clicking the test button fails.

Currently, I'm not a happy bunny :(

Regards Nick

Mailtraq Version: 2.17.5.3286 running on Windows 7

Oh dear - they may have changed the API. I can run some tests on Monday and find out.

Great :)

I remember they did the same thing, a couple of versions ago. Good luck with it.

I've heard back from AVG (took a week though) but they appear to have lost any record of our prior relationship and all the contacts we worked with in the past have left the company. We are still waiting but I will send a reminder.

Christmas Greetings

Are there any developments, I am being bombarded with requests to upgrade to 2013, but I don't want to if that leaves me exposed. I gave up with Clam :(

I have written to them again but frustratingly no useful response yet.

Regrettably no. I suspect AVG want to promote their Email Server software which acts as a proxy and is more expensive. I will keep bugging them.

Mailtraq version 2.17.5.3306

I am still being bombarded with messages to upgrade to AVG2013 but am resisting them in case they are not compatible with Mailtraq. Any advice here?

As a precaution, I have installed CLAM and now I am trying to get Clam working but get the message "unable to connect to CLAMD. Socket error # 10061 connection refused." Any ideas what I do now to get the socket working?

Thanks.

I've contacted AVG again and I'll let you know.

How have you configured Mailtraq to connect to ClamD? Is ClamD running separately or are you having Mailtraq launch it?

I downloaded it to my hard-drive and Mailtraq is detecting it.

I am not sure that I realized that there were these options. Have I chosen the best route.

Cheers

If I choose the AV Manger option in Mailtraq, Mailtraq does a search and I can see the Clam AV program in the window. But with the socket error message that I saw earlier.

Does that make it clearer?
